The season is upon us. It’s time for cozy sweaters, football, apple-picking, and yep, pumpkin spice. Love it or hate it, the pumpkin spice craze never died out, so we might as well embrace it. Apparently, this is who we are now.
This comforting recipe is not just a seasonal platitude. It combines potentially therapeutic CBD with several other powerhouse ingredients including:
Cinnamon has long been considered one of the healthiest spices in the world. It’s packed with polyphenol antioxidants that are thought to offer protection against free radicals. And it’s been studied for its ability to lower cholesterol and reduce inflammation.
Used as a panacea for morning sickness and nausea, Ginger may also be an effective anti-inflammatory ingredient that could reduce soreness and pain. It may even help lower blood sugar. So if you enjoy this spice, use it liberally.
During the 14th century, Europeans thought nutmeg could ward off the black plague, making it more costly than gold at the time. Today, nearly everyone has this delicious spice on the pantry shelves. It may help with circulation, indigestion, and more.
Cloves are rich in antioxidants and have been studied for their anti-inflammatory effects as well. Some studies suggest that they may help protect the body against certain illnesses, but beyond that, they make a great flavor addition to any pumpkin spice recipe.
It may be good for you, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t a decadent treat. The first sip of this warm, delicious, creamy drink will have you ready to curl up in the corner with a new book.
Pumpkin Spice CBD Latte Recipe
- 1 cup of your favorite brewed coffee
- ¼ cup canned or fresh pumpkin puree
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
- 2 cups of milk. You can use regular or any non-dairy option
- CBD Oil of your choice
Combine the coffee, pumpkin puree, sugar, vanilla, and pumpkin pie spice in a saucepan. Stir over medium heat for two to five minutes, until the mixture is hot, but not boiling.
While the coffee mixture is heating, add your choice of milk to a frothing pitcher. Place over medium heat and begin using the frother once the temperature reaches around 120 degrees F. Remove from heat and continue frothing until you have the desired amount of foam.
Pour the coffee into two bugs and add your desired amount of CBD oil to each cup. Add the hot milk slowly to the coffee mixture, using a spoon to hold back the foam. Then use the spoon to place the remaining foam in each mug.
If you don’t have a frother and you just want a quick and fun beverage, you can warm the milk in the microwave and beat well with an electric mixer or even a whisk. You won’t get that “genuine” latte experience, but it will still be super tasty.
Alternatively, you can skip the milk altogether and add some whipped cream.
For added flavor and to make it look pretty, sprinkle a bit of ground nutmeg or cinnamon on the top before serving.
Never let your recipe get above 240 degrees F, as this will destroy properties of the CBD oil.
