We at ECHO Connection are excited to highlight the progress of one of the most recent newcomers to the ECHO Family, the Algire’s.
Kiana and Aaron Algire of Salem, Illinois reached out to us weeks ago seeking guidance on the natural properties of cannabidiol (CBD) for their almost 2-year old son, Silas. Born premature, Silas spent the first few days of his life in neonatal intensive care unit and has since been diagnosed with an epilepsy disorder that had caused him to experience multiple seizures every day. Doctors have told the Algire’s that Silas would experience seizures his whole life.
We are excited to share that in the three weeks since Silas has started taking CBD hemp oil, he’s been completely seizure free.
“He is doing amazing with [the CBD oil]!” his mom Kiana said. “We haven’t noticed a single seizure since starting whereas with just his medication he was on (Trileptal) he was still having them. We love the oils and he is getting better at taking it every day!”
Weeks ago Silas had been experiencing daily generalized onset and absence seizures. Generalized onset seizures cause dramatic and violent convulsions. Absence seizures cause short periods of “zoning” out or staring into space. Silas would be left irritable and exhausted after every episode.
Silas has regular appointments with a neurological doctor at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. At his last appointment, just days ago, his doctor told the Algire’s they could push out the date of their next check-up.
“Since Silas is doing so well they won’t need to see us again for 6 months which takes us into the New Year!” said Kiana. “Wouldn’t it be great to start the new year 6 MONTH SEIZURE FREE?! That’s our goal right now.”
ECHO Connection is proud to connect ailing children and families with the therapeutic and healing properties of CBD. The Algire’s have been with us for less than a month, but we’re excited that CBD is already helping Silas move forward to better health.
Kiana heard about ECHO through a friend. If you or someone you know face special circumstances and could potentially benefit from cannabinoids, learn more about how to become a sponsored ECHO Family and what to know when applying.
