CBG: The Stem Cell Cannabinoid

by ECHO Connection / Wednesday, 17 June 2020 / Published in Education

For the last few years, CBD has dominated the cannabis market in almost every area ranging from dietary supplements to joint and muscle creams. Besides CBD, only one other cannabinoid is widely known and understood by the public, and that is THC.

THC and CBD work synergistically in cannabis to produce the plant’s known benefits, but THC is often known as the cannabinoid that creates a “high.” While CBD does not provide this same effect, users are known to experience euphoria and calmness alongside other therapeutic and medicinal qualities. However, there seems to be a new cannabinoid emerging on the hemp market that you should keep your eye out for: CBG.

What is CBG?

CBG, otherwise known as Cannabigerol, is a compound of cannabis that is projected to make a significant impact on the hemp industry over the next few years. CBG is considered a minor cannabinoid as it is only present in minimal amounts in cannabis, usually under 1 percent.

It is anticipated that this compound might become incredibly useful in the cosmetic industry as it has shown some potential for improving skin health. Also, CBG is believed to significantly aid in treating glaucoma because it has been shown to reduce intraocular pressure.

Many well-respected cannabis firms have recently taken their own stances on CBG, leading many people to believe that this compound will soon explode onto the market. One of these firms is SponsorsOne Inc., who have recently introduced a sublingual dissolving tablet containing CBG. According to SponsorsOne, using this type of tablet gives an exciting edge to the company as they’re a relatively new product in the cannabis sphere. They call CBG the “holy grail” of cannabinoids and expect to continue using it in the future.

Ultimately, should you be keeping your eye on the market for upcoming CBG products? Definitely. While they may not work for every individual, they certainly have promise in areas that the CBD market has not yet fully expanded upon. CBG’s potential in the cosmetic industry is limitless and seeing where the compound goes within the market will undoubtedly be an exciting journey to watch.
