CBD Popsicles—A Cool Summer Treat

by ECHO Connection / Thursday, 30 July 2020 / Published in Education

We’re halfway through summer now, and if you’re finding yourself a little short on seasonal fun, we’ve got just the thing—ice-cold CBD popsicles. The best part about these warm-weather treats is that they can be custom-made for all family members, so you can enjoy your “adult” version while the kids have their own varieties.

A primary advantage of making your own is that you control the ingredients. While store-bought popsicles often contain high fructose corn syrup, artificial flavorings, and food dye, homemade pops can be crafted with healthy, natural ingredients for a nutritional boost.

Our instructions for making homemade CBD popsicles are super easy. All you need is a few staple ingredients (you probably already have them on hand), some popsicle molds, and your favorite CBD oil. (For an even more “uplifting” experience, you can also use a THC-infused oil.)

Before you get started, though, a word of caution: If you have children in the house, make sure you have a way to keep your “adult” popsicles locked away.  And be sure your kiddos know that these particular treats are off-limits.

Getting Started

These popsicles use only four ingredients, not including the CBD oil. You will want some juice, a thick liquid such as yogurt or coconut milk, fresh or frozen fruit, and water. That’s it!

If you do this in the morning, you will have an ice-cold treat to enjoy by the afternoon.

Depending upon the size of your popsicle molds, this recipe will make four to eight popsicles:

  • ½ cup of your favorite juice
  • ½ cup of water
  • ½ cup of yogurt or coconut milk
  • 2 ½ cups of fruit (fresh or frozen)
  • CBD or THC oil

Put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth. Pour evenly into your molds. Carefully add the desired amount of CBD or THC oil to each mold and stir. Freeze immediately. The popsicles will store in a freezer bag for around three months if you aren’t planning to eat them immediately.

Customized Popsicles

One of the great things about making your own popsicles is that the possibilities are endless. You can make these your own and try out new and unique flavor combinations without worrying too much about the outcome. You can add whole fruit, herbs, even nuts and seeds. (You might want to do a test run on any new creations before you add your cannabinoids, so they don’t get wasted)

Here are a few variations to play around with:

  • Grated ginger and lime
  • Lemon and mint
  • Apple cinnamon
  • Fresh wild berries
  • Vanilla bean and honey
  • Fresh carrot juice and turmeric

While our recipe does not use sugar, you can add sweetness with maple syrup, honey, or liquid stevia.

Do you have a recipe for popsicles (or other CBD edibles) you would like to share? Please let us know! We love to hear from our readers.
