Can’t Get to a Canna Convention or Trade Show? Try Out a Virtual Event

by ECHO Connection / Thursday, 03 September 2020 / Published in Education

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, most cannabis event organizers have had to rethink their regularly scheduled offerings this year. Thankfully, the industry is full of creative problem-solvers ready to take on the challenge. If you’re feeling down because you can’t attend your favorite cannabis or hemp convention, check out some of these remote options.

NECANN

Every year since 2014, the New England Cannabis Convention (NECANN) has hosted conventions and events for cannabis businesses, advocates, patients, and consumers to connect. Along with their new NECANN competition, which recognizes the best cannabis products in the marketplace, the expos are chock full of workshops, vendors, exhibits, and plenty of opportunities to network with other folks in the industry.

For 2020, the Springfield, Vermont, and New Jersey conventions have been rescheduled into a first-ever virtual event—NECANN Online.

The remote convention starts on September 14th and will go through September 16th. Billed as the biggest digital cannabis event worldwide, participants can expect to see over 500 exhibitors from an array of dispensaries, services, brands, and products.

Along with the vendors, NECANN will host more than 50 programs and workshops covering topics like social justice and equality, CBD, growing, extraction, medical cannabis, technology, innovation, careers, business, and much more.

Attendees will also receive gift bags complete with virtual swag (giveaways, deals, raffles, coupons, and more) and a 300-page cannabis industry resource guide. The event is not free—tickets will set you back about $45. But if you are looking for a unique remote activity to participate in during lockdown, this one might help cure the blues.

Free Online Cannabis Events

If attending NECANN’s virtual convention isn’t in your budget, you can check our a few smaller digital cannabis events and webinars coming up.

CWCBExpo

Cannabis World Congress & Business Expositions (CWCBExpo) is a B2B trade show held three times a year for the cannabis industry. If you don’t get the chance to go in person, you should definitely check out their library of free webinars. You’ll discover topics like The History of Hemp, Cannabis Investing, PTSD in underserved populations, and more. New content is introduced regularly, so be sure to check back often.

Curio Wellness

Curio Wellness will be hosting a Wednesday night medical cannabis virtual learning series in September. The workshops can be accessed via the Eventbrite platform and are completely free for attendees. Topics in the series include: Medical Cannabis 101, Cooking with Cannabis, HIgh-Potency Concentrates, Taking a Tolerance Break, and Combining Acupuncture and Medical Cannabis.

Cannareps

Billing its event as ‘The Ultimate FREE Cannabis Education & Goodie Giveaway,’ the good people at Cannareps are hosting monthly live webinars for all things cannabis. Attendees range from weed geeks to entrepreneurs, and the only requirement for participation is that you are of legal age in Canada (18+) or the U.S. (21+). These are educational sessions that won’t cost you a dime, and you’ll even get a chance to win a cool prize. Last month’s giveaway was for a brand new Volcano. If you can’t make it to the event, you can also replay it at your convenience.
