Being Healthy Is All the More Reason to Take CBD—Here’s Why

by ECHO Connection / Tuesday, 08 October 2019 / Published in Education

Many people think that taking CBD is only useful if you have a chronic health condition. While CBD does have a lot of benefits for those who have severe health symptoms, it can be just as beneficial as a supplement to healthy, everyday life. We take supplements every day—multivitamins, probiotics, and “superfoods.” But somehow, we don’t consider CBD when we think about the many dietary additives we put in our bodies regularly. In this post, we will be discussing some of the everyday health benefits of CBD, and why you should be taking it consistently to promote overall health.

CBD Supports Relaxation

More than 40 million adults suffer from anxiety every year, making up 18.1% of the population. For almost a fifth of the country, stress is an everyday struggle that must be battled regularly. While you may be entirely physically “healthy,” you suffer from stressors that impact your daily life.

Taking CBD as a daily habit promotes relaxation to the body’s stress hormones, such as Cortisol. Over time, this can decrease the automatic stress responses in your body, allowing you to relax more and make your fears more manageable. CBD may also help the brain to access serotonin more effectively, a neurotransmitter that contributes to feelings of general happiness and wellbeing.

CBD for Skin

Acne affects about 9% of the population, and virtually everyone is concerned with how their skin looks sometimes. While acne can have a variety of causes (including everything from genetics to environment), CBD could be able to help.

CBD not only promotes healthy skin, but has also been shown to reduce the production of sebum in a recent study, which is an oily skin secretion that causes acne when overproduced.

CBD has significant antioxidant properties. Antioxidants protect the skin and prevent harmful bacteria from penetrating it. Antioxidants can also help the skin to repair itself faster and correct a lot of the damage that’s visible to the naked eye. Antioxidant-rich CBD is present in a lot of topical cannabis products, mainly because it’s so good for the skin.

CBD for Overall Wellness

Being completely ‘healthy’ doesn’t come without its daily struggles. Most people who consider themselves primarily healthy still have some form of daily pain. This pain could be related to work, weak exercise recovery, nerve damage, or a prior injury.

CB1 and CB2 receptors, as part of the endocannabinoid system, have a significant role in the body’s pain signaling. By targeting these receptors, CBD can control the body’s pain responses and promote overall wellness. In a comprehensive review conducted by Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto, CBD was found to have far more benefits than risks when used for pain relief.

Final Thoughts

If you think you want to start incorporating CBD into your everyday life, you have plenty of ways to do so. Ingesting a CBD tincture sublingually is a popular method, but you can also try topical products or capsules. As with any other health supplement, make sure you discuss CBD with your doctor before starting any new routine.
